About the garden
The Hollow Field is a half-acre community garden on the edge of town. It started in 2019 as a patch of nettles and an idea, and it now feeds, teaches and gathers a few hundred people a year.
We're run entirely by volunteers and funded by a €50 annual membership, the Harvest Table dinners and the odd grant. Everything you see was built by members.
What we believe
Grown together
Every bed is someone's, and every harvest is shared. Nobody gardens alone here.
Nothing wasted
Compost, rainwater, reclaimed timber. The garden runs on what the town already has.
All ages, all abilities
Raised beds, wide paths and a kettle that's always on. Come as you are.
How we got here
2019
Siobhán and four neighbours clear the field and dig the first eight beds.
2020
The polytunnel goes up on reclaimed scaffolding; membership reaches 25.
2022
Garden Kitchen opens and the first Harvest Table dinner sells out.
2024
Youth Growing Club launches with a waiting list on day one.
2026
40 plots, a three-bay compost system and a wait list we're working through.

Siobhán Murphy
Garden Coordinator
Siobhán founded The Hollow Field in 2019 after years of community organizing. She keeps the garden running, coordinates volunteers, and makes sure everyone feels welcome.
Liam O'Connor
Head Grower
Liam manages the growing calendar, runs workshops, and keeps the polytunnel thriving. He's the one to ask about soil health and crop rotation.
Aoife Walsh
Youth Program Lead
Aoife runs the Youth Growing Club and school visits. She believes every child should know where their food comes from and get their hands dirty.
Tom Brennan
Kitchen Manager
Tom runs the Garden Kitchen, turning our harvests into communal meals and preserves. He's a chef who left the restaurant world to cook with purpose.
Mary Fitzgerald
Volunteer Coordinator
Mary organizes work days, matches volunteers with tasks, and keeps the tea flowing. She's the heart of the garden's community spirit.
Declan Hayes
Compost & Infrastructure
Declan built most of the raised beds, maintains the compost system, and fixes anything that breaks. He's a carpenter by trade and a problem-solver by nature.

The gate is open Tuesday to Sunday. Visit, volunteer for an afternoon, or come to a registration morning to get on the plot list.
